Greenpeace Issues Urgent Call for the Mediterranean

International environmental organization Greenpeace has launched a comprehensive signature campaign to draw attention to the plastic pollution that has reached critical levels in the southern region of Turkey. Microplastic pollution, which threatens the entire Mediterranean coast, particularly in Alanya, is one of the organization's priority areas of struggle. In the official report shared by Greenpeace, striking findings were presented regarding the source of pollution and its route in nature. Plastic waste leaking from recycling facilities in Adana first mixes with water channels and then with rivers. This level of pollution, which threatens the ecosystem, marine life, and human health directly, is considered a crisis that requires an urgent action plan by experts.
