Herzog: End boycott calls in Europe, dialogue brings peace

Israeli President Isaac Herzog, during an official visit to Romania, reacted to the growing calls for boycotts and sanctions against Israel in Europe. Herzog emphasized that these calls will not advance peace; instead, dialogue and engagement will contribute to peace. Speaking at a joint press conference with Romanian President Nicușor Dan, Herzog called on Europeans to reverse their course.

Herzog expressed his satisfaction with the framework agreement signed between Lebanon and Israel under US mediation. He stated that this agreement should be supported by the EU and the international community, and that Lebanon should be helped to restore its economy and stability. He also stressed the need to support Israel's security.

Despite the ongoing occupation in southern Syria, Herzog argued that they want to open a new page of peace with the Damascus administration. This statement carries the message that Israel is seeking a diplomatic solution despite its military presence in the region.

A bilateral meeting was also held between Israeli President Herzog and his Romanian counterpart Dan. The meeting discussed the development of cooperation in technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, security, agriculture, culture, and tourism. This meeting shows the multidimensional nature of relations between the two countries.

Herzog's visit and statements reveal that Israel continues its diplomatic moves against increasing international pressure. In particular, Herzog's emphasis on dialogue in response to rising boycott calls in Europe after the Gaza attacks can be seen as an effort to improve Israel's image.
