First Covid-19 Death Recorded in Hindistan After 4 Years

The first Covid-19-related death case was recorded in Hindistan's Andhra Pradesh state after an approximately four-year hiatus. The incident occurred in the Kadappa region of the state, and authorities were put on alert after a 46-year-old male patient lost his life due to the infection. The recent upward trend in Covid-19 cases in the region has caused serious concern among public health officials. This development shows that despite the pandemic having largely lost its global impact, the virus still poses a threat. The health department has started taking necessary measures to keep the situation in the region under close monitoring.

It was reported that the treatment of the deceased 46-year-old patient was continued at the CMC Vellore hospital in Tamil Nadu state. It was learned that the patient's Covid-19 test result conducted there came back positive and he was kept under intensive medical intervention for four days. Unfortunately, despite days of intensive care and treatment processes, no improvement could be achieved in the patient's health. Following the patient's passing on Çarşamba, medical examinations revealed that both of his lungs were severely affected by the infection. Regional health authorities stated that the patient also had a severe pneumonia condition, which eliminated the chance of recovery.

Following the emergence of this tragic death case, a significant increase in the number of cases was also observed in the region. As a result of RT-PCR tests conducted by authorities, four more new Covid-19 infections were confirmed in the Kadappa region. While three of these new cases are in good condition and were allowed to isolate at home, one patient was admitted to the hospital's special Covid-19 ward. It was reported that the treatment of the hospitalized patient is continuing and his health condition is being closely monitored. This increase is considered an important warning that requires the local population to recall basic protective measures such as masks, hygiene, and social distancing.

On the other hand, following rumors spreading that two different Covid-19 deaths occurred in the region, the local administration had to make a statement to clarify the situation. The district collector stated that the second death, which was the subject of the rumors, was not directly caused by Covid-19. It was emphasized that the patient in question had pre-existing severe heart and liver diseases, and therefore the virus cannot be considered the primary cause of death. The local administration warned the public against panicking and giving credence to unfounded claims. In addition, reminding that accurate and reliable information can only be obtained from official authorities, people were asked to act sensibly.

The health department stated that the danger of Covid-19 has not completely disappeared and called on all citizens to remain vigilant. Authorities stated that individuals experiencing symptoms such as persistent high fever, cough, sore throat, or shortness of breath should immediately apply to a healthcare facility and get tested without wasting time. Relevant institutions recommend showing sensitivity regarding taking necessary health measures while moving in society. It is emphasized that the elderly with weak immune systems and individuals with chronic conditions must be much more careful against such symptoms. Experts, taking into account the major global crises of the past, added that such local increases should not be seen as insignificant fluctuations and must be taken seriously.
