Operation against organized crime syndicate in İstanbul: 18 suspects taken into custody

In a large-scale operation coordinated by the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a criminal organization operating on the İstanbul Anadolu Side was dismantled. As a result of the joint work of the Organized Crime and Intelligence Branch Directorates affiliated with the Security Directorate, a total of 18 suspects, including the organization's leader Ö.H., were caught. Authorities stated that following technical and physical surveillance, the suspects were cornered in a simultaneous operation. Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that the suspects were involved in numerous different criminal acts. Following the operation, a judicial process was initiated, and the investigation is being carried out in detail.

As a result of the work carried out by security units, it was revealed that the organization committed extremely serious crimes. It was recorded that the suspects engaged in actions posing a vital threat, such as 'Qualified Plunder', 'Attempted Intentional Killing', and 'Intentional Injury'. In addition, the suspects were also targeted for the crimes of armed threat and deliberate endangerment of general security. The teams identified many different criminal elements, such as Opposition to the Firearms Law No. 6136 and assuming a crime. In this context, the extent of the security threat posed by the organization in the region is being evaluated by judicial authorities. The successful execution of the operation was recorded as the result of long-running intelligence and analysis work. Police teams used methods such as both physical surveillance and technical wiretapping to closely monitor the movements of the criminal organization members. In line with the collected evidence and observations made, the day of the operation was determined. It was determined that the suspects were at different addresses, and a decision for simultaneous raids was made. In this way, the organization members were prevented from communicating with each other and destroying evidence. The 18 detained suspects were taken to the security directorate to be interrogated. During the interrogation processes, the details of the crimes attributed to the suspects are being investigated. Additional investigations may also come to the agenda regarding the crimes that the leader Ö.H. and other organization members allegedly committed in the past. Security sources emphasized that the operation will be effective in reducing crime rates in the region and that similar efforts will continue. After their procedures at the security directorate, the suspects are expected to be transferred to the courthouse. Operations targeting such organized crime syndicates are of great importance in terms of ensuring security across İstanbul. In particular, the dismantling of groups that disturb public peace and threaten general public order is seen as a step supported by the local population. Authorities announced that the fight against crime will continue resolutely and that no illegal structure will be tolerated. This operation carried out on the Anadolu Side is aimed at deterring crime networks in other districts as well. Once the investigation file is completed, the trial process of the suspects will begin, and the incident is expected to be revealed in all its dimensions.
