A comprehensive media study conducted by Resumé Insight has revealed how TikTok algorithms divide young voters into different political realities. Social media platforms' content recommendation systems can trap users in closed loops called echo chambers, based on their past interactions and hidden interests. This situation poses a serious risk of information pollution and manipulation, especially for young voters who are just beginning to make their political decisions. The research revealed that young generations living within the same country can have completely disconnected and opposing political perceptions. Experts who examined the platform experiences of users with similar demographic characteristics stated that the algorithm not only highlights engaging content but also rapidly disseminates extremist views that could radicalize users.

Evaluating the issue, Erik Slottner (Christian Democrats), Minister for Civil Affairs of Sweden, drew attention to this dark side of algorithms, emphasizing that authorities must be extremely vigilant. Slottner stated that such situations are an unwanted but inevitable aspect of digital algorithms, adding that society must remain in a constant state of readiness against this. The Minister believes that mechanisms must be transparent to ensure that the content distribution methods of platforms do not deepen societal polarization. He added that such situations could undermine social consensus and harm the culture of democratic debate. Slottner stated that it is vital for the government and relevant institutions to closely monitor these technological developments.

The Swedish minister stated that he found the in-depth research conducted by Resumé Insight highly appropriate and important, expressing his satisfaction with the media increasing such auditing activities. He emphasized the need to enhance the digital literacy of individuals in society and their ability to critically evaluate sources regarding different media content. He believes that through such independent journalism activities, all citizens, especially the youth, will become aware of how social media works. In this era where communication and information technologies are rapidly developing, questioning the source of news and verifying its accuracy has become more important than ever. In this context, Minister Slottner also advocates for a much more active integration of the topic of digital literacy in schools and the general education system.
