Switzerland Surpasses Kazakhstan to Become Tajikistan's Third Largest Trade Partner

According to data from Tajikistan's statistics agency, Switzerland has risen to become the country's third-largest trading partner in the first five months of 2026. This significant shift occurred as bilateral trade turnover exceeded $1.013 billion, allowing Switzerland to overtake Kazakhstan for the third spot. Previously, in 2025, Kazakhstan held the third position with higher trade volumes, while Swiss trade was considerably lower at around $386.5 million. The rapid growth in Swiss-Tajik relations marks a sharp contrast to the previous year's figures and highlights a dynamic change in Central Asian trade patterns. China and Russia remain the top two partners, but the emergence of Switzerland signals a diversification in Tajikistan's key economic alliances.
