Karacabey Mayor Karabatı issues fire warning

Fatih Karabatı, the mayor of Karacabey in Bursa, has issued important warnings to citizens as rising summer temperatures and strong winds have elevated the risk of fires to the highest level. He emphasized that protecting forests, agricultural lands, and natural life is a shared responsibility for everyone. Karabatı called on the public to avoid lighting fires in forested areas, not to discard cigarette butts carelessly, to refrain from stubble burning, and to avoid using uncontrolled fires even for garden cleaning. He stated, "Karacabey is our common home. Let's join hands to protect our nature, forests, and future."

Mayor Karabatı drew attention to the recent increase in fire incidents in the district and urged citizens to be more cautious and responsible. He noted that the combination of high temperatures and strong winds has significantly raised the fire risk. Karabatı reminded that most fires result from negligence and carelessness, and he invited everyone to take preventive measures. He stressed that the forested areas, agricultural lands, and natural beauties of Karacabey are among the most valuable legacies to be left to future generations.

Karabatı particularly highlighted the need to avoid lighting fires in forests, discarding cigarette butts indiscriminately, and burning stubble in agricultural fields. He warned that seemingly minor oversights can lead to major disasters. He also pointed out that abandoned buildings, vacant lots, and areas covered with dry grass pose significant risks, requiring extra caution. Even for garden cleaning, uncontrolled fires should not be used, he said, emphasizing that social awareness is vital in preventing fires.

Mayor Karabatı stated that reporting any signs of fire immediately to the 112 Emergency Call Center can prevent potential disasters. He expressed that the sensitivity shown by citizens will greatly contribute to the efforts of firefighting teams. In his statement, Karabatı said, "Dear fellow citizens; the recent fires in our district deeply sadden us all. Due to the hot weather conditions and strong winds, even the slightest negligence can lead to irreparable consequences. Therefore, I especially ask all our citizens to be more careful and sensitive."
