KKTC Cumhurbaşkanı Erhürman Discharged from Hospital: 'Angio Came Out Perfectly Clean'

KKTC Cumhurbaşkanı Tufan Erhürman suddenly fell ill and was taken to the hospital during an exhibition event organized by the Cumhurbaşkanlığı. Spending the night at the hospital following the health issue he experienced, Erhürman recovered and was discharged in the morning after all medical interventions and examinations were performed. Making statements to journalists before leaving the hospital, Erhürman stated that his condition was good and that all test results came back clear. Speaking to İhlas Haber Ajansı (İHA), the Cumhurbaşkanı noted that the doctors examined him meticulously and that all necessary checks were performed. He gave the glad tidings that this process was overcome in a short time and that there were no permanent problems.

Erhürman recounted in detail how his discomfort began. He stated that he felt a severe pain suddenly spreading to his back during the event, followed by cold sweating. Saying that his blood pressure and pulse were measured immediately after he felt unwell, Erhürman noted that the results were quite low; despite being a high blood pressure patient, he recorded that at that moment his blood pressure dropped to 6 and his pulse fell very low. He also mentioned that his vision blurred and that all the indicators in the picture made him think it pointed to a serious heart-related problem. He added to his words that following these symptoms, the doctors intervened quickly to stabilize his condition and initiated the process for further examinations.

It was learned that after initial interventions such as blood samples taken at the hospital and an ECG performed, the doctors decided on an angiography to assess the severity of the situation. It was announced that the result of Erhürman's angiography was much better than expected and that there was no blockage in his heart vessels. Stating that the blood tests performed on suspicion of a heart attack also came back negative, the Cumhurbaşkanı said, 'Thank God, the angiography came out perfectly clean, and it was definitively confirmed that there was no heart attack.' He conveyed that doctors evaluated that this sudden discomfort could be caused by a mild heart spasm (Prinzmetal angina). It was noted that this condition causes temporary contractions without leaving permanent damage in the heart vessels and can be triggered by factors such as stress.

Cumhurbaşkanı Erhürman emphasized that coincidentally, his transportation to the hospital was ensured very quickly when he fell ill, and that this was a great fortune for him. He reminded that at the event held at the Eski Cumhurbaşkanlığı Sarayı, an ambulance had been called to the area shortly before because another guest had also fallen ill. While the ambulance was about to leave the area after the other guest recovered, Erhürman's sudden illness allowed the medical teams to immediately return and intervene. Erhürman stated that this coincidence was a matter of luck and that the ambulance being by his side within two minutes during those critical moments when the severe pain continued was of vital importance. He added to his words that thanks to the rapid intervention, the process was overcome without getting any heavier and everything was brought under control on the day of the incident.

Stating that thanks to this health issue he experienced, he took the opportunity to complete his detailed health check-ups which he had not done for a long time, Erhürman expressed that his general health condition is perfectly fine. Saying that as a result of all examinations, no different problem needing to be solved emerged in his body and everything looked clear, the Cumhurbaşkanı said, 'This was an opportunity, we had check-ups that we normally don't have done.' He conveyed that his doctors advised him to slow down a bit and rest. Erhürman offered his thanks to the medical teams, hospital staff, and the public who did not leave him alone, for the interest shown. It was reported that the health of the Cumhurbaşkanı, who is expected to continue his schedule a bit more carefully and rest in the upcoming days, has fully recovered.
