Kocaelispor's champion legends gathered at a dinner evoking the past

The legendary footballers, the architects of Kocaelispor's unforgettable championship, reunited on the anniversary of this significant achievement written in golden letters in the club's history. The championship dinner, held at Yelken Restoran in the Derince district and hosted by Yakup Deniz, the owner of Yörünge İnşaat, one of the club's major sponsors, bridged the past and the present. A large portion of the champion squad from that era attended this special night, closely followed by fans and the football community, creating a nostalgic atmosphere by attending in full force.

Yakup Deniz, the owner of Yörünge İnşaat who hosted the night, stated in his opening speech that such togetherness is a great chance for the club and conveyed his thanks to everyone who supported the organization. Mustafa Çulcu, one of the names symbolizing love and respect in the Kocaelispor community, emphasized that the sporting struggle and fair-play understanding displayed by the legendary footballers on the field should set an example for society. Çulcu specifically called on fans to be conscious, referring to the fan incidents Kocaelispor experienced last season and the 14.9 million lira fine that financially strained the club, stating that this penalty did not suit Kocaelispor's dignity.

Kocaelispor Board Member Haşmet Uçar recalled in his speech that the fundamental purpose of sports is peace and brotherhood, explaining how critical sports and especially infrastructure work are for the younger generation in society to stay away from bad habits like drugs. Although the absence of Technical Director Bülent Baturman due to his holiday schedule and Haydar Kaç due to his work intensity created a bit of bitterness among the participants at this meaningful night, this absence was compensated by the enthusiasm of the other names.
