Example of Cooperation from Köse Municipality: Garbage Truck Transferred to District Special Administration

A decision of importance regarding the efficient use of public resources and cooperation between local governments was made in the Köse district of Gümüşhane. Köse Municipality relinquished its request for a large-capacity garbage collection vehicle, which it had planned to procure from its own budget, and transferred this opportunity to the District Special Administration. It was stated by the municipality that common interests were prioritized considering that the District Special Administration did not possess such a vehicle and the environmental cleaning needs of the villages. While the decision aims to increase the service capacity throughout the district, thanks were extended to the political officials who contributed to the process. This move drew attention for enabling service to a wider area by the municipality giving up its own request.

Köse Mayor Turgay Kesler, making a statement on the subject, emphasized that their decision was directed towards the common needs of the district and that they gave up their own plans as a municipality. Mayor Kesler offered his gratitude to the ministers and deputies who played a major role in bringing a large-capacity garbage collection vehicle to the district as a result of their initiatives and meetings. Conveying his thanks especially to Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum and party leader Devlet Bahçeli, Kesler also mentioned the support of the General Deputy Chairman responsible for local governments and the Gümüşhane deputy. Kesler expressed that this support represents not just a vehicle, but a positive impact on the service quality of the district.

The newly acquired large-capacity garbage collection vehicle is expected to contribute significantly to the environmental and cleaning services carried out across the district and especially in the villages. The current situation, where the District Special Administration did not have a vehicle of this scale, could cause disruptions in cleaning services, particularly in rural areas with vast lands. With the new vehicle, garbage collection operations on village roads are planned to be carried out more quickly and regularly. Mayor Kesler stated that the vehicle would not only increase service power but also reinforce sensitivity towards environmental cleanliness. In this way, a permanent improvement is predicted in the access of citizens living in rural areas to municipal services.

In the final part of his statement, Mayor Turgay Kesler wished that the service to be provided would be beneficial to all citizens and conveyed his gratitude once again to everyone who had a hand in bringing the vehicle to the district. He said that the vehicle acquired by the District Special Administration was a step not only for garbage collection activities but also for raising the general infrastructure and cleaning standards of the district. Referring to the importance of sharing resources and solidarity in the local government understanding, Kesler expressed their hope that this step would set an example for other municipalities. He added that the decision taken for the comfort and healthy environment of the citizens was a requirement of the mayoralty responsibility.
