1 Person Lost Life in Armed Fight in Kuşadası, 4 People Detained

In the incident that took place yesterday at around 05.45 in Camikebir Mahallesi Kaleiçi Sakarya Street in the Kuşadası district of Aydın, a young man named Abdulkadir Ataş (27) lost his life. It was learned that a verbal argument between Ataş and a group of people, for an as-yet undetermined reason, quickly escalated into a physical fight. As a result of gunfire suddenly opened from within the crowd during the brawl, Ataş was seriously wounded by a bullet hitting him in the armpit. In this tragic event, recorded second by second by a security camera located near the scene, every moment of the chaos following the gunshot was captured in detail.

The details reflected in the security camera records revealed the brutality of the incident even more clearly. It was seen that even after falling to the ground, Ataş was violently beaten and kicked and punched by the group that had shot and injured him. As a result of the attack that continued without any intervention after he was shot, Abdulkadir Ataş lost his life at the scene a short time later due to blood loss. In the examinations, it was determined that the victim could not survive due to both the gunshot wound and the violence he was subjected to after falling to the ground. This situation is considered one of the most important factors contributing to the incident reaching the dimension of murder.

The suspects who tried to destroy the evidence at the scene were also caught on security cameras. Moments after the fight and the firing of the gun, a suspect who arrived at the scene was recorded as carefully searching for and finding the empty casing on the ground. This person put the empty casing ejected from the gun into his pocket to prevent it from becoming evidence in the police investigation and left the scene. This action, described as an attempt to tamper with evidence, constituted another proof that the incident was carried out intentionally and in a planned manner.

Within the scope of the investigation initiated after Kuşadası District Police Department teams arrived at the scene, 7 suspects were detained. Among the suspects referred to the judiciary in İzmir and Aydın, A.K. was released by the court in İzmir under judicial control conditions. Among the other suspects whose trials continued in Kuşadası, A.A., M.D., M.E.B. and F.B. were arrested and sent to prison by the court they appeared before, while suspects A.C. and D.İ. were released again under judicial control conditions. The 4 detained suspects will continue to be held in prison during the process conducted on charges of 'intentional murder'.

The detailed investigation conducted by the police officials regarding the incident has not yet been completed. Answers to questions regarding exactly how the incident started, who the gun belonged to, and whether there was past animosity between Ataş and the group are being investigated. Security camera footage and witness statements are being meticulously examined to shed light on the incident. On the other hand, while the young man's body was handed over to his family after autopsy procedures, it is being discussed that security measures will be increased in and around Kuşadası to prevent similar events from recurring.
