Taxi driver shot dead in Lima, car found with note signed by criminal organization

In the Carabayllo district of Lima, the capital of Peru, 56-year-old taxi driver Adolfo Gustavo Toledo La Rosa lost his life as a result of an armed attack. The incident occurred on the morning of 13 July 2026, at a location very close to the victim's home. A suspect wearing a headscarf, white jacket, and mask approached the vehicle, opened fire directly at the driver, and then walked away from the scene.

While police teams found six spent shell casings at the scene, they also seized a handwritten note inside the vehicle, believed to have been left by a criminal organization. The teams conducting the investigation facilitated the examination of fingerprints and biological evidence to identify the perpetrator. Forensic teams are collecting security camera footage to reconstruct the suspect's escape route.

As part of the investigation, information was found in the victim's police records indicating a connection with a criminal organization called 'Los Norteños Guarayos'. Authorities continue to investigate whether the murder was committed as a settling of scores or with a different motive. Meanwhile, local residents expressed that they find their security concerning due to the increasing violence and extortion threats in recent months.
