Lionel Messi Receives Two Death Threats

Lionel Messi, the captain of the Argentine national team, received two death threats during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The first threat was made before Argentina's group match against Jordan, and the second threat was shared on social media before Argentina's match against Egypt. Following the threats, bomb disposal teams and specially trained dogs searched the stadium, but no explosives were found. Additionally, two separate security incidents related to Cristiano Ronaldo were also reported. The International Police Cooperation Center, established under the coordination of the FBI before the World Cup, worked to share threat intelligence between security units of different countries and to intervene in potential risks.
