Louvre jewel thieves say they were hired for 15-20 thousand euros

Two suspects detained on charges of stealing jewelry from the Louvre claimed they carried out the act on behalf of an unknown individual. The newspaper Le Monde obtained the information acquired during their interrogation.

The suspects stated that they did not know the identity of the mysterious client who hired them. It was reported that the individual in question offered to pay them 15 to 20 thousand euros in exchange for the theft.

The incident, which took place in one of the world's most famous museums, has also brought the adequacy of security measures into question. The investigation is ongoing both to verify the suspects' claims and to uncover the identity of the possible perpetrator.
