Lucida AI expands seed round to $7 million

Lucida AI, a voice-based AI language learning app, has expanded its seed investment round to $7 million, up from the previously announced $5.4 million in April. The round was led by Velocity Capital, with participation from Next Tier Ventures, Look AI Ventures, Bogazici Ventures, Yapı Kredi Frwrd Ventures, and Ünlü & Co. Founded in 2024, Lucida AI had previously raised $1.25 million in pre-seed funding from Neo Portföy, bringing its total funding to $8.25 million.

The company plans to use the new investment to expand its platform to more countries and languages, enhance its speech-to-speech AI infrastructure, scale its enterprise product, and accelerate product development. Lucida AI was founded by Mustafa Girgin and Mustafa Sait Demirci. The platform focuses on real-time conversational AI technology, offering an AI-powered "speech coach" that helps users speak more fluently and accurately in different languages.

Instead of typing, users interact with the AI by speaking directly. Lucida AI's proprietary speech-to-speech and Speech Language Model (SLM) infrastructure analyzes conversations in real time, evaluating pronunciation, fluency, and expression accuracy. This transforms language learning from traditional lesson formats into daily speaking practice.

The platform also simulates various real-life scenarios, such as job interviews, presentations, customer conversations, and everyday dialogues, to prepare users for practical situations. Lucida AI has achieved rapid global growth, reaching over 3 million users and accumulating more than 2.2 billion minutes of speech interaction across Europe, the United States, and emerging markets.
