Nature Photographer Cahit Girgin, Who Lost His Life in a Mountainous Area in Darende, Malatya, Found

Following the incident that took place in the Darende district of Malatya, concerns grew after Cahit Girgin (54), learned to be a nature photographer, could not be reached for a while. Subsequently, a comprehensive search operation was launched in the region, and teams meticulously searched the mountainous area during the night. It was discovered that Girgin was last seen in the Ilıcak location of Hacı Derviş Mahallesi, behind the Hasan Gazi Tomb. As a result of the intensive efforts sustained by the search and rescue teams, Girgin was found deceased among the rocks at around 02.00 at night. During checks conducted by health teams immediately dispatched to the scene, it was sorrowfully confirmed that Girgin had passed away.

In this context, it is evaluated that the photographer might have suffered a sudden heart attack in the rugged terrain. Following the initial examinations at the scene by the gendarmerie and judicial teams, Girgin's body was taken to the Adli Tıp Kurumu for further examinations. Following this painful incident, Darende Belediye Başkanı Alican Bozkurt published a condolence message expressing his sorrow. In his message, Başkan Bozkurt emphasized that Girgin was a valuable fellow citizen who devoted great effort to the promotion of Darende and the transmission of its cultural values to future generations. Stating that the value Girgin added to the district and the precious services he left behind will always be remembered, Bozkurt wished mercy upon the deceased. Additionally, he conveyed his condolences and wishes for patience to the grieving family, relatives, and all fellow citizens of Darende.
