In Malaysia, the Gerakan Party is looking for its first victory in the Negeri Sembilan state elections

Ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state elections in Malaysia, Gerakan Party President Datuk Dr. Dominic Lau announced that his party is fully prepared for the election. In the election, where the candidate selection process will begin on Saturday, it was stated that the voting process will take place on 1 August. Lau asked voters to give a chance to the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition to prove itself.

Gerakan, which has not had a single seat in parliament since 2018 and could not win any ballot boxes in the 2022 general elections, is facing a crisis of representation. Gerakan, a former ruling party, left the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition after suffering a major defeat in the same year and joined PN in 2021. It is stated that the party aims to achieve its first election victory in the new coalition.

Political analysts state that Gerakan has very little influence in the PN alliance, which is dominated by the Islamist PAS party, and often has to step back. President Lau's personal election history is similar to his party's; Lau, who has lost the three elections he entered since 2013, has his position within the alliance questioned.
