Police Investigation into Allegation of Two Primary School Students Being Kicked in Malaysia

In an incident that occurred in the Kota Kinabalu city of Malaysia's Sabah state and made national headlines, it was alleged that two primary school students were subjected to physical violence and bullying by a classmate. To shed light on the incident and protect the victims' rights, the regional police force launched a comprehensive investigation. Kota Kinabalu Police Commissioner Syed Lot Syed Abdul Rahman, who made a statement on the matter, confirmed that the father of the victimized children filed an official complaint. According to the allegations, the father of the victimized children claims that his children were repeatedly targeted for bullying by a male student studying at the same school. The complainant father requested that the school administration's failure to take adequate precautions also be evaluated within the scope of the investigation. The police spokesperson announced that the necessary legal processes have been initiated following the criminal complaint and that expert teams have been assigned to the case. It was emphasized that files involving such child victimization are handled with extreme sensitivity under Malaysia laws. It was stated that while the investigation continues, necessary measures have been taken to ensure the security of the victimized family.

As a result of the initial examinations and statements taken, it was determined that the first part of the physical violence incidents occurred on 6 Temmuz. In this first incident, it was revealed that a 12-year-old young girl was violently kicked in the back of the head by a male classmate. It was reported that the painful physical intervention the girl experienced also created a huge wave of fear and panic among other students in the school. The severity of the situation became clearer when the victimized girl began to suffer from severe headaches immediately after the incident. Authorities noted that they are continuing the process with a very meticulous approach, taking into account the devastating effects of the violent act on a young child. Authorities emphatically stressed that such severe violence-containing acts are unacceptable under any excuse.

It was alleged that before even a day had passed since the first violent incident, specifically on the morning of 7 Temmuz, a second attack occurred at the same school. The male student, who is the brother of the previously attacked girl, was ruthlessly targeted by the same suspect, this time being kicked in the groin. This second physical attack not only caused the young child physical pain but was also learned to have left deep traumas in his mental state. The family reported that the victimized male child was in extreme fear and trauma after the incident, and was severely affected psychologically. It became clearly evident that the two siblings were worn down both physically and emotionally by the successive attacks. This situation revealed the security vulnerability within the school and the extent of the bullying, prompting authorities into action.

Police Commissioner Syed Lot stated that the ongoing judicial process continues with the identification of the suspect's full identity and that the file is being examined down to the finest detail. The investigation team is trying to gather information from all perspectives by taking statements from students who witnessed the incident, teachers working at the school, and administrative staff. Furthermore, it was learned that both victimized children were subjected to a detailed medical examination at the hospital to determine the extent of the blows they received and their permanent effects on their health. The complainant father added to his allegations that since the school term started, the same suspect has directed verbal harassment and constant physical threats towards his children. This violent incident has brought the issue of peer bullying in schools across Malaysia and the obligation of school administrations to intervene in such cases back to the agenda.
