The cause of the toxic gas leak in the Manaus Industrial Zone has been revealed

The Amazonas Fire Department (CBMAM) announced the cause of a toxic gas leak that occurred in a factory in the Manaus Industrial Zone. According to officials, the incident occurred as a result of a reaction of a chemical called styrene monomer stored in a tank in the company's warehouse. Upon the excessive expansion of the liquid material inside the tank, the gas leaked out through the system's safety valve.

Following the incident, a strong and sharp odor was noticed by the public in many areas of Manaus. As a precaution, employees at the relevant facility and surrounding institutions evacuated the buildings. A large number of fire teams, water monitors, and military personnel were dispatched to the area to ensure environmental security.

Officials are carrying out a cooling process by spraying water into the tank to bring the chemical reaction under control and prevent a possible new leak. Although initial statements indicated there were no injuries, subsequent updates reported that the health condition of the 16 people exposed was stable and that they had sought treatment at hospitals.
