Women's campaign complained about by activist in Mexico defended

In the Mexican state of Tlaxcala, the Secretary of Women (SMET) Nydia Cano Rodríguez made statements regarding the complaint filed against her by activist Eréndira Jiménez Montiel. The activist had filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission, claiming that the institutional campaign named "Cuidar nos une" (Caring Unites Us) violated human rights principles.

Cano Rodríguez stated that the complaint is an opportunity for them and will allow the institution to transparently showcase its work for women. Cano, arguing that the campaign is merely a temporary communication strategy and not a permanent public policy, pointed out the inconsistencies in the allegations. Emphasizing the importance of the campaign, Cano stated that they achieved significant work even with a very small allocated budget.

She noted that the main purpose of the billboard advertisement, which is part of the campaign, was to announce the free services provided to women victims of violence. Cano Rodríguez explained that SMET provides services such as legal advice, psychological support, and custody with more than 150 experts. She also added that following the launch of the campaign, a significant increase was recorded in help and information calls made to the institution.
