MP Resul Kurt: Damage Assessment Continues After Besni Fires

AK Party Adıyaman Deputy Assoc. Prof. Dr. Resul Kurt made important statements regarding the fires that occurred in the Besni district. Kurt stated that damage assessment efforts are ongoing in the region following the fires and emphasized that all resources are being mobilized to address the grievances of the citizens. He also noted that the investigation into the cause of the fires continues and that necessary steps are being taken to identify those responsible.

Deputy Kurt said that the fires affected a large area, causing significant damage particularly to agricultural lands and forested areas. He stated that teams are working day and night to prepare damage assessment reports, and that relevant state institutions will act swiftly based on these reports. He added that temporary shelter needs of citizens in affected villages are being met and food aid is being provided.

Resul Kurt announced that cooling operations are ongoing after the fires were brought under control, and precautions are being taken against the risk of re-ignition. He also stated that weather conditions were effective in the spread of the fires, but a greater disaster was prevented thanks to the intervention of the teams. Kurt thanked all firefighting teams, forestry personnel, and volunteers who participated in the firefighting efforts.

The deputy announced that reforestation efforts will be initiated in the region after the fires. In this context, he stated that work will be carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for the rehabilitation of burned forest areas. He also expressed that necessary steps are being taken regarding agricultural insurance and state support to compensate farmers' losses. Kurt asked citizens to be patient during this process and to follow the instructions of the authorities.

Finally, Resul Kurt also warned about the measures that need to be taken to prevent fires. He emphasized that citizens should be more careful against the increasing fire risk, especially during the summer months. He also reminded that fires should not be lit in forested areas and activities such as stubble burning should be avoided. Kurt added that the damage caused by fires to the environment and economy is great, so everyone must fulfill their responsibilities.
