Earthquake at Municipal Liberia: Free Transfer Documents Given to All Football Players

The deep crisis experienced at Municipal Liberia, one of the historic clubs of Costa Rican football, has completely dragged the club's sporting and administrative future into uncertainty. Club president Mario Mora officially announced that all football players in the first-team squad will receive their free transfer documents and will have the freedom to sign with any club they wish. Mario Mora explicitly admitted that keeping the current high-salary squad is economically absolutely unsustainable. According to the new management, Municipal Liberia's future sporting strategy will change completely, focusing on youth development and grassroots infrastructure. The club plans to continue on its way with a much more restricted and realistic budget, investing in its youth academy regardless of which league or category it drops to. It was stated that it is not yet clear in which category or league level the club will compete in the next season, and that the processes are still ongoing.
