Death toll in Nepal's major flood disaster approaches 600

In Nepal, a glacial lake outburst flood caused by a glacier collapse created a wall of water like a tsunami and affected villages. As a result of the disaster, approximately 600 people lost their lives and more than 2.400 people remain out of contact. Rescue teams have recovered 586 bodies and are facing difficulties in ongoing search operations.

Nepal's disaster management authority added hydroelectric workers, trekkers, and Hindu pilgrims heading to Tibet's sacred Kailash Dağı to the missing list. Hospitals in the capital Kathmandu are filled with relatives coming to search for their missing loved ones. Due to renewed flood risk in Tibet's Gyirong region, Chinese emergency teams were temporarily halted, but operations resumed after the threat diminished. It was reported that seven bodies related to water from Nepal were found in India's rivers. In Tibet, 554 people remain missing, 555 tourists and 499 Chinese citizens were moved to safe areas. Survivors in the affected area, enduring a painful wait to find their families, shared their grief with expressions such as 'I just want my son to come back'.
