Narcotics Operation in Ordu: Large Quantity of Drugs and Weapons Seized, 11 People Arrested

Comprehensive security efforts aimed at preventing drug trafficking and use in the province of Ordu reached a peak with a simultaneous operation in the Altınordu district. Coordinated by the Ordu Provincial Police Department Narcotic Crimes Branch teams, the operation was a planned maneuver against targets described as street dealers. Simultaneous raids were conducted on addresses determined by security forces with the aim of catching those involved in illegal drug trade and strengthening the evidence at hand. During the searches, a total of 342.5 grams of raw bonzai, 34.12 grams of processed bonzai, 2.97 grams of methamphetamine, and 1.50 grams of marijuana were seized by the security forces. Additionally, 45 synthetic medical drugs, sold illegally on the market, were among the criminal elements seized within the scope of the operation. Beyond the drugs, it was determined that the suspects also resorted to the use of force for crime; in this context, 1 unlicensed pistol, 2 unrifled hunting shotguns, and 74 cartridges of 9x19 mm caliber belonging to these weapons were seized.

The legal processes of the operation continued with the referral of the detained suspects to the judicial authorities. An investigation was launched against a total of 15 suspects on charges of 'drug trafficking,' while 2 of them were released after their statements were taken. However, situations arose where judicial controls were deemed insufficient regarding the nature and degree of the crime; a decision was made to release 2 suspects on probation, while the other 11 suspects, against whom there was stronger suspicion and evidence presented, were arrested and sent to prison. This distinction demonstrates how individuals are evaluated in judicial processes based on their criminal history and the weight of the evidence.

Such operations against street dealers constitute one of the most sensitive and risky duties for law enforcement forces on a local level. As street dealing is considered the most critical link in delivering drugs to the consumer, operations at these points are of strategic importance in terms of breaking the supply chain.
