Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea plays the trumpet with his first solo album, 'Honora'

Red Hot Chili Peppers' legendary bassist and founding member Flea (Michael Balzary) announced his first solo album, 'Honora', after nearly 5 decades of rock career. Approaching the age of 60, the artist decided to fulfill his childhood dream and focused on his love for the trumpet, which he had always carried inside him despite being a world-renowned bassist.

The album bears the name 'Honora', inspired by a name loved by his family, and features six original compositions where Flea plays both the trumpet and the bass, as well as covers of various artists. In the project, which features vocals by leading figures of contemporary jazz music as well as his close friends Thom Yorke and Nick Cave, Flea admitted that for the first time in his life, he felt great fear and hesitation while making music.

To celebrate the release of the new album, the artist and his band gave a Tiny Desk Concert at the NPR offices in Washington. Flea, who took the stage with his backing band consisting of producer and saxophonist Josh Johnson, guitarist Jeff Parker, bassist Anna Butterss, and drummer Deantoni Parks, performed three tracks from 'Honora'.
