'Reform' Criticism from Former Health Minister Rogobete: Not Leaving People Starving

Former Romanya Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete argued that the concept of 'reform', frequently used by political circles in his country, has been emptied of its meaning and has increasingly turned into a marketing tool. According to Rogobete, a real reform is not merely political propaganda, but refers to deep structural changes planned in line with the needs of society, which yield concrete results. Noting that an emphasis on reform has been made in almost every government program and press conference recently, Rogobete added that this situation involves perception management by taking advantage of citizens' expectations for a better state. However, emphasizing that merely pronouncing this word will not change anything, Rogobete clearly stated that hypocrisy will not produce reform. According to him, reform can only be achieved through the collective effort of teams that communicate with professionals and society, not just a single person.

Fiercely reacting to the justification of employment restrictions in critical sectors under the name of 'reform', Rogobete said this approach serves no purpose other than paralyzing the functioning of the state. He emphasized that not hiring new personnel in vital areas such as health, education, and defense is not a reform, but rather a crisis trigger. Similarly, he noted that contractors undertaking public projects like hospitals and schools not being paid for months is presented to society under the guise of 'financial discipline'. Rogobete stated that trying to cover up such measures with social media campaigns will not change the reality. He added that indiscriminate cuts and postponed investments mean great losses for the country's future.

Stating that a genuine reform can be possible by eliminating waste without weakening the capacity of the state, Rogobete argued that digitalization and investments must be placed at the center during this process. Seeing the reduction of bureaucracy and the simplification of procedures as integral parts of reform, Rogobete emphasized that it is essential to track the financial results of companies. According to him, the main goal is to strengthen the system with a constructive approach and to build concrete building blocks rather than just making cuts. Noting that the public is no longer influenced by slogans and flawlessly designed social media videos, but wants to see concrete facts, Rogobete stressed that the government needs to see this truth. He added that propaganda only needs the word, whereas real reform needs concrete works.

Criticizing in very harsh terms that taking away people's livelihoods can never be called a reform under any circumstances, Rogobete expressed his reaction by saying, 'Reform is not leaving people without bread on their tables!' With this outcry, he aimed to make a societal warning against the current political power presenting economic hardships as a process of renewal. Arguing that a management approach that considers the welfare of the public must be established, Rogobete stated that otherwise, every step taken will only be destructive and will disrupt equal opportunity. He also added that attempts to open societal wounds under the guise of budget cuts by hiding behind the concept of reform must come to an end. He noted that no policy that makes people's lives difficult and pushes them into poverty will benefit the country in the long run.

Emphasizing that the duty of politicians is to leave behind not just beautiful words, but concrete steps that improve the lives of the people, Rogobete stressed that they cannot produce permanent solutions with rhetoric that only saves the day. He added that if Romanya truly wants to progress, it needs to benefit from the wisdom of professionals through effective teamwork. Noting that reform should ultimately be evaluated not by what is said, but by what is left behind, Rogobete argued that it is of great importance for all segments of society to adopt this philosophy. In this context, he also expressed that continuous and transparently managed public policies must be explained to the public in plain language. He concluded his words by stating that sustainable policies for the future can only be implemented with an honest and results-oriented management approach.
