RSS takes charge of Ram Mandir donation controversy: Bajrang Dal claims meeting with Modi

Alleged irregularities in donations to the Ram Temple, which is being built in the city of Ayodhya, India, and has great religious significance, continue to shake the country's political agenda. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) broke its silence on the issue on Friday, calling for a thorough and impartial investigation. RSS General Secretary Dattatrey Hosabale called for calm in the Hindu community in a statement, warning that some 'anti-Hindi' and 'anti-national' forces could use this incident as a pretext to damage the community's image. The organization emphasized the need to avoid all rumors and inflammatory influences, adding that anyone found guilty as a result of the investigation must be punished in the strictest manner. This harsh outburst shows that discontent within the board of directors has leaked out and that the seriousness of the situation is being maintained.

On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) former MP and founder of the radical group Bajrang Dal, Vinay Katiyar, raised the temperature of the controversy even further. Katiyar claimed that current members of the Shri Rama Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Foundation, Champat Rai, Gopal Rao, and Anil Mishra, could be sentenced to prison in the future, and demanded the restructuring of the foundation. In a surprising claim, Katiyar alleged that he discussed this donation crisis and management disagreements with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and spoke in detail with his superiors. This claim creates question marks about how involved the Prime Minister is in the matter and also leads to speculation that cracks within the ruling party may be deepening. Katiyar's statements reveal that the incident, which started only as a claim of financial corruption, has turned into internal power struggles within the party.

RSS General Secretary Hosabale argued that the foundation needs to take this serious question seriously and give it the necessary attention, advocating that the deficiencies in the temple's management and organization need to be urgently addressed. Stating that the faith and security of millions of Rama fans are integrated with the temple in Ayodhya, Hosabale expressed that the atmosphere of uncertainty and insecurity needs to end as soon as possible. Officials concerned that failure to resolve these management glitches would shake believers' trust in the foundation and bring donations to a halt called for transparency. Officials reiterated that accountability is essential, emphasizing that the temple must be managed as a sensitive institution that is not just a religious structure but also an organization where billions of rupees turn.

As the investigation deepens, law enforcement has so far detained eight people thought to be connected to this event. Following the arrests, a crisis erupted within the foundation; key figures such as Champat Rai and Anil Mishra announced their resignations from the board of directors. These resignations show that the scandal is not limited to its financial dimension but has turned into an institutional crisis and affected upper management. In the past, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), known for its close ties with the RSS, went down in history as the most important advocate and organizer of the Ram Temple construction movement. Now, the same structure is considered ironic in that it has to face such a crisis while managing the donations of the sacred shrine being built.

The developing events have begun to affect political balances across the country and initiated a quite difficult process for the ruling BJP party. Experts and political observers warn that this donation controversy could damage the party's voter base and image and affect recent election results. Initially seen as a local management issue, the event has evolved into a national crisis with the intervention of high-level politicians and ideological organizations. Opposition parties and government critics are looking for opportunities to pin the blame on the administration for the situation, while the government side is trying to manage the crisis by emphasizing the completion of the investigation in a fair manner and the punishment of the guilty.
