Health Fund Budget: Same Services With a 10 Percent Increase

This year's budget of the Bulgaristan Ulusal Sağlık Sigortası Fonu (NHIF) has been set at 5.256 billion euros. This figure represents an increase of approximately 412 million euros compared to the previous year, indicating an 8.5 percent growth. Authorities have announced that despite this significant increase in the budget, no radical changes have been made to the institution's main expenditure items and priorities. The largest financial resource has once again been allocated to hospital treatments and clinical services, just as in previous years. This situation demonstrates that hospital-centered treatment maintains its weight in the country's healthcare system and shows continuity in budget policies.

Hospital care and clinical treatments receive the largest share within this massive budget plan. This year, the allocation solely for hospital treatments has reached a level of 2.341 billion euros. When compared to the figures from the previous year, it is observed that there has been an approximately 10 percent increase in this critical expenditure item. Authorities state that they hope this additional resource will cover the operating costs of hospitals as well as allow for the renewal of medical equipment.
