Singer and AHBAP Association Founder Haluk Levent Detained in Bursa

Famous singer and founder of the AHBAP Association, Haluk Levent, was detained in Bursa by teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Unit. It was reported that following the operation conducted by law enforcement, Levent was taken to the police station for processing. The detention occurred as part of an investigation into the association's financial affairs and Levent's personal accounts. The details of the charges against Haluk Levent within the scope of the investigation have also emerged. In statements made by official authorities, it was learned that Levent is charged with opposing the associations law, laundering assets derived from a crime, and membership in a criminal organization. According to the allegations, it was claimed that Haluk Levent bet a total of 990 million lira between 2020 and 2026, losing 390 million lira during this period. Additionally, it was stated that during the investigation, it was determined that 120 million lira was transferred from the official accounts of the AHBAP Association to the account of Levent's assistant, Yeliz Kaya. These massive financial movements are being closely examined by the prosecutor's office, and whether the source of the money is linked to illegal activities is being investigated. The betting allegations and the transfers from the association's accounts constitute the most critical points of the investigation, which has received widespread public attention. Experts note that this financial scale indicates that the legal process could be much longer and more complex.

Haluk Levent had recently announced to the public that he was considering leaving the position of presidency at the AHBAP Association. The use of donations collected after the devastating earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on 6 Şubat and the association's activities had been a subject of debate for a long time. In his statement, Levent expressed that he would step down from the presidency after completing ongoing projects and successfully passing the next financial audit. He also emphasized that even if he left the position, he would continue working with the association as an AHBAP volunteer. Levent, who also stated that he had disrupted his professional music career due to health issues, recently announced that he had been appointed as the Birleşmiş Milletler Suriye and Lübnan goodwill ambassador. Levent noted that because of these global goals, the individuals to whom he would hand over the management of the association would also be highly successful.
