Sivas Cumhuriyet University Rises to Top 30 in URAP Rankings

The Academic Performance Research Laboratory (URAP) at METU Informatics Institute has released the highly anticipated 2025-2026 World and Turkey General Ranking results. This system evaluates higher education institutions using objective bibliometric data. Sivas Cumhuriyet University (SCU) has continued its steady upward trend, achieving a significant success. The university rose to 30th place in Turkey and advanced 156 spots globally. This achievement highlights SCU's improvements in academic productivity and international collaborations.

URAP rankings are based on Web of Science and InCites data, considering criteria such as number of articles, citations, total document score, and international collaborations. SCU was ranked 40th in Turkey in 2023-2024, then 35th in 2024-2025, and now 30th this year. This consistent rise reflects the university's ongoing enhancement in research quality. Notably, increases in international publications and citation counts are evident.

Globally, SCU climbed from 1644th place last year to 1488th this year, a jump of 156 positions. This leap demonstrates the university's growing competitiveness on a global scale. Entering the top 1500 among thousands of universities worldwide is considered a major achievement. SCU has thus become more visible in the international academic community.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Şengönül stated that this success results from the university administration's visionary approach and R&D-focused strategies. Emphasizing that they have prioritized scientific production since taking office, Şengönül noted that quality research incentives and investments in academic infrastructure have paid off. He thanked all academics and staff, reaffirming the commitment to further enhance research performance.

This achievement aligns with Sivas Cumhuriyet University's goal of contributing to regional development and scientific output. The university aims to continue its upward trajectory in rankings. The URAP results serve as national and international recognition of SCU's education and research quality.
