Destructive Storm in Târgoviște: Roofs Blown Off, Vehicles Totaled, Roads Closed

The severe storm that occurred in Târgoviște, Romanya on Pazartesi afternoon left behind a scene of devastation. Extraordinarily powerful winds lasting only a few minutes tore roofs off buildings and knocked down numerous trees and power poles. As citizens panicked and rushed to call emergency lines due to the dangers arising, authorities received over a hundred calls for help shortly after. While roof pieces and fallen trees rendered roads unusable, many parked vehicles also suffered heavy damage. As daily life in the area came to a standstill, emergency crews were mobilized to respond to the incidents.

To demonstrate the scale of the meteorological disaster, Dâmbovița İl Acil Durum Müdürlüğü (ISU) shared important information regarding the official response process in the area. In a statement from authorities, it was noted that immediately following the severe weather events, numerous crisis situations arose not only in central Târgoviște but also in surrounding settlements. The fact that exactly 114 different calls reached the 112 emergency line in just a few hours stood out as a clear indicator of the immense devastation left by the storm. Due to the high volume of incoming reports and the widespread geographical area of the incidents, all fire and rescue teams in the region were called to duty. Authorities emphasized that they are working around the clock to ensure the safety of life and property for the public.

It was reported that 65 different reports received by the fire crews were evaluated, and these interventions were carried out with great diligence. In official statements, it was noted that 25 highly complex intervention situations at the incident scenes were ultimately completely resolved and secured. Meanwhile, due to the vast affected area and the severity of the destruction, arduous cleanup and rescue operations at another 40 different locations are still ongoing day and night. During their operations, the rescue teams focused on clearing fallen trees, broken utility poles, and heavy roof debris blown away by gale-force winds that were blocking main traffic arteries. In a rescue operation for a citizen trapped under roof debris, the team members literally raced against time.

One of the most dramatic and life-threatening events of the storm was recorded on Bağımsızlık Caddesi (Strada Independenței). During the incident, a large section of the roof of a multi-story apartment building suddenly broke loose and was flung due to the impact of the incredibly fierce winds. The flying giant roof pieces fell directly onto the road, hitting a person who was passing through the area at that moment. It was reported that fire crews arrived at the scene quickly, extracted the trapped citizen from under the rubble, and provided initial first aid. After it was determined that the victim was conscious at the scene and had sustained various injuries to their lower body (legs), they were immediately and safely transported by ambulance to a hospital for further treatment.

According to information obtained from local authorities, the struggle was not limited to the Târgoviște municipality; the Răzvad komünü and surrounding villages were also severely affected by this meteorological disaster. Special teams were assigned to cut and remove massive fallen trees on some of the city's busiest streets, such as Galya Voiculescu, Vlad Țepeș, and Calea Câmpulung. Additionally, a large power pole that fell onto the road in the Calea Ploiești area and heavy debris scattered in the Gura Văii street of Răzvad required lengthy operations. Following all this irreversible damage, the Meteoroloji Genel Müdürlüğü confirmed that a 'Kırmızı Kod' (Cod Roșu) level tornado and waterspout warning was issued for the region. Authorities invited all citizens to stay indoors and follow safety instructions, considering the possibility of new damage occurring in different areas in the coming hours depending on weather conditions.
