TBMM Chairman Kurtulmuş Spoke at the Hz. Nuh Commemoration Ceremony in Şırnak

Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi (TBMM) Chairman Numan Kurtulmuş attended the Hz. Nuh Commemoration Ceremony held in the Sefine region of Cudi Dağı, Şırnak. In his speech here, Kurtulmuş emphasized the country's unity and togetherness, stating that they will protect brotherhood like the apple of their eye. The highly attended ceremony included the President of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, numerous deputy ministers, and members of parliament. Additionally, as part of the program, the noon prayer was performed in the area believed to be where Hz. Nuh's ark landed. Following the prayer, Kurtulmuş and his accompanying delegation laid a symbolic stone for the construction of the Hz. Nuh Camisi, which is currently being built.

The Hz. Nuh commemoration ceremony was interrupted in 1984 due to terrorist incidents in the region and resumed in 2021. This year marks the fourth time the increasingly growing organization has been held, organized by the Şırnak Governorship and Municipality. The event, which attracted tens of thousands of people, also serves as a significant indicator of the region's normalization process, emerging from the shadow of terrorism. Areas that were once abandoned due to security concerns can now bring together tens of thousands of people peacefully. This situation holds great significance for the establishment of lasting peace and tranquility in the region.

Kurtulmuş, who also emphasized religious and spiritual themes at the ceremony, pointed out that there are lessons to be learned from the story of Hz. Nuh. In his speech, he stated that belief in the universal messages brought by the prophets is the greatest strength of the end-times community. Emphasizing the importance of following in the footsteps of all prophets such as Hz. Nuh, Hz. Musa, Hz. İsa, and Hz. Muhammed, Kurtulmuş highlighted that unity of faith strengthens social bonds. He noted that it is extremely valuable for the people living in these lands to protect this spiritual heritage. He added that prayers and faith make society resilient against all kinds of hardships.

Reiterating his messages of unity, togetherness, and brotherhood, Kurtulmuş referred to the Quranic command to "Hold fast to the rope of Allah." He explained that this concept also means holding firmly to truth, justice, conscience, and humanity. He stated that accepting all human beings as brothers and sisters, without discrimination based on ethnicity, language, or lineage, is one of the fundamental principles of Islam. He underlined that the 86 million population of Turkey shares a common past, destiny, and future. Noting that customs, traditions, joys, and sorrows are shared in these lands, he stated that social resilience against divisive rhetoric must always be maintained at a high level.

Finally, touching upon the region's economic development, Kurtulmuş shared that the oil production initiated in Gabar Dağı is bearing fruit. He stated that in those mountains, which could not be entered in the past due to security reasons, an oil production exceeding 80,000 barrels per day is now achieved, bringing joy to Şırnak. He noted that following the elimination of terrorism from the region, it has become both an energy hub and a center of peace. He concluded his speech with the hope of meeting again at the Hz. Nuh Camisi, which is planned to be completed and opened next year. He expressed his belief that these developments have increased hopes for the region's future and that songs of brotherhood will be sung in these lands for centuries to come.
