Chain-reaction accident on TEM Highway Bolu pass: Traffic returns to normal

A worrying traffic accident occurred in the Yukarısoku Mahallesi locality of the TEM Otoyolu, one of Turkey's most important transit routes within the borders of Bolu province. A truck traveling in the direction of Ankara made contact with a car moving in the same lane from behind. While the car lost control as a result of the impact and skidded across the road, a passenger bus coming from behind failed to notice the situation and crashed into the skidding vehicle for a second time. Material damage occurred to three vehicles as a result of this chain-reaction traffic accident. The fact that the accident fortunately caused no injuries or loss of life was the greatest source of consolation at the scene.

Emergency action plans were implemented to prevent the chaos in the region during and immediately after the accident. Notifications made to the 112 Acil Çağrı Merkezi upon the reports of those who witnessed the incident or drivers ensured that the relevant authorized units were informed immediately. Otoyol Jandarma teams and Karayolları Genel Müdürlüğü personnel quickly arrived at the scene and took the necessary security measures. To prevent a possible second accident and keep traffic flow under control, the teams created a wide security area around the vehicles involved in the accident.

According to the information obtained, a total of three vehicles were involved in the chain-reaction accident: a truck, a car, and a bus. The chain of events, which began with the truck hitting the car in front, turned into a triple material damage scenario with the car skidding and the bus hitting this vehicle. Although there was relatively heavy material damage to the vehicles, it was stated that the drivers and passengers survived a life-threatening danger. This situation, despite the severity of the accident, made it possible to avoid loss of life, take security measures quickly, and remove the vehicles from the road without delay.

After the examinations and security measures were carried out at the scene, Karayolları teams began the process of removing the damaged vehicles involved in the accident from the road. The process of removing the truck, car, and bus from the road with tow trucks was of critical importance for the highway to be reopened to traffic. Thanks to the meticulous work of the teams, the vehicles were cleared in a short time and the debris on the road was removed. As a result of these procedures, the lane of the highway closed due to the accident was reopened to traffic and vehicle flow in the area returned to normal.

Such incidents on the TEM Otoyolu, which plays a key role in Turkey's intercity transportation network, once again highlight the importance of obeying driver rules and maintaining following distance. The Bolu pass is known as a risky region where drivers are always called upon to be careful due to its sharp curves and sudden weather conditions. In this recent accident, considering the severity of the collision, the lack of loss of life was a source of consolation, but the magnitude of material damage and negative effects such as traffic disruption are worth remembering. Thanks to the rapid and coordinated intervention of the Otoyol Jandarması and Karayolları teams, a possible greater chaos was averted and road safety was restored.
