57 Suspects Caught in Migrant Smuggling Operation Conducted in 26 Provinces in Türkiye

A massive simultaneous operation was carried out in 26 provinces of Türkiye, coordinated by the Jandarma Genel Komutanlığı, targeting irregular migration and migrant smuggling organizers. In the extensive efforts carried out, a major blow was dealt to criminal organizations that organize illegal migration routes, both on the field and on legal grounds. During the operation, migrant movements and smuggling routes were monitored second by second via UAVs in the air and special teams on the ground.

In the simultaneous raids conducted, a total of 57 suspect organizers were caught red-handed and referred to judicial authorities. Following the court processes, 43 of the suspects were arrested and sent to prison, while judicial control measures were imposed on 14 suspects. Within the scope of the operation, the logistics networks of the criminal organizations were also dismantled.

In the searches conducted by the security forces, 282 vehicles determined to be used in human smuggling were seized. Additionally, 22 boats and boat motors prepared to facilitate illegal sea crossings were confiscated. In the statement made by the İçişleri Bakanlığı, it was emphasized that the fight against migrant smuggling will continue increasingly and uncompromisingly in order to maintain border security.
