Vazelon Monastery Included in Trabzon Tourism Master Plan

The Trabzon Tourism Master Plan, prepared in collaboration with the Trabzon Governorship, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, and the Eastern Black Sea Development Agency (DOKA), has set important goals for the city's tourism future. Covering the years 2026-2053, the plan aims not only to increase tourist numbers but also to extend visitors' stays and boost tourism revenues. Prof. Dr. İrfan Yazıcıoğlu from Hacı Bayram Veli University, who coordinates the plan, stated that projects are phased into short, medium, and long-term categories. Among the long-term goals is the completion of the restoration of Vazelon Monastery. The restoration aims to revive the historical structure and enhance the region's tourism potential.

Located in the Maçka district of Trabzon, Vazelon Monastery is considered one of the oldest monasteries in the region and has been a topic of discussion for years due to its pending restoration. The restoration of the historical building is intended not only to preserve cultural heritage but also to increase the tourism potential of the area. This goal, included in the Tourism Master Plan, reveals that Vazelon is planned to become one of Trabzon's important visitor attractions in the future.
