Vignola Water Network Renewal to Begin: 20-Day Works to Affect Traffic

In the municipality of Vignola, Italy, a comprehensive water network renewal project will begin next Monday and last approximately twenty days. Carried out by Hera, a multi-utility public service company, the work will be conducted primarily in the via Modenese area and aims to improve the quality of life for citizens. As part of the infrastructure investment, approximately 200 meters of 20-centimeter diameter water pipes will be completely renewed to transition to a more modern system. During this renewal, old pipes and building connections will be replaced, and two new valve groups will be installed to increase system efficiency. According to company statements, this investment aims to minimize water outages, ensure service continuity, and reduce the need for emergency repairs.

With a cost of approximately 70,000 Euros, necessary measures will be taken for the safe execution of construction works. While various changes will be made on the road to avoid disrupting traffic flow, convenience will be provided for residents and emergency vehicles. Authorities request understanding from citizens during the work period, emphasizing the importance of using alternative routes during working hours for urban transportation. The planned maintenance is crucial for the trouble-free operation of the area's water infrastructure for years to come. These improvements are expected to bring a visible increase in the network's hydraulic performance and a reduction in maintenance costs.

As the start of the works approaches, Vignola Mayor Angelo Pasini issued important warnings to motor vehicle drivers, stating that planning alternative routes is mandatory during this process. The works, taking place between July 6 and 26, will completely close the 200-meter section of via Modenese between Viale Mazzini and Via Livello to traffic. This restriction will directly affect daily life and require rerouting for transit vehicles. The mayor warned drivers to avoid the road especially during peak hours and stated that measures were taken to prevent inconvenience for residents of nearby streets.

Authorities shared detailed information regarding traffic flow, designating an alternative route for drivers coming from Savignano and heading towards Spilamberto and Modena. Vehicles are directed to turn left at the traffic light intersection on Cesare Battisti Street, enter Bellucci Street, and then proceed to other parts of the city. The new route includes Viale Mazzini and Via Primo Maggio, which provide access to the hospital emergency room, as well as the ring road for those heading towards Sassuolo and Spilambarto. Additionally, residents in the work zone will face no restrictions accessing their homes and will be allowed to use the street under the supervision of the construction site supervisor. All these measures will be meticulously applied to complete the 20-day work with minimal disruption.

Construction activities will pause weekly on Sundays to allow traffic to return to normal. On Thursdays, due to the market event, workers will temporarily reopen via Modenese to traffic to ensure commercial life continues unhindered. This temporary opening is significant to prevent inconvenience for merchants and shoppers. Upon completion, a significant reduction in water outages and blockages is expected, along with a more modern system structure. The municipality of Vignola and Hera officials are ready to provide support by keeping communication channels open for citizens throughout the project.
