Electric Shock Takes Lives in Yalova: Father and Son Lose Their Lives

The tragic incident that occurred at a washing and lubrication facility in the Kaytazdere town of Yalova's Altınova district plunged a family into mourning. According to the information obtained, 28-year-old Olcay Okur was electrocuted by a high-voltage current from a bulkaz during his routine work. 53-year-old father Samim Okur, who stepped in to save his son from this dangerous situation, intervened in a great act of sacrifice. However, the father was also electrocuted during the rescue efforts and was severely injured. Immediately after the incident, numerous medical teams were dispatched to the region, and initial medical intervention was provided to the injured at the scene. Although the teams made great efforts, unfortunately, the condition of both individuals was extremely critical.

Following the accident, the father and son, whose life-threatening conditions continued, were transferred to different hospitals and placed in intensive care. 53-year-old retired firefighter Samim Okur was taken to Karamürsel Devlet Hastanesi. On the other hand, his 28-year-old son Olcay Okur was transferred to Yalova Altınova Devlet Hastanesi and admitted to the emergency room. Doctors applied all necessary medical interventions flawlessly to keep both patients alive. Despite all intensive care efforts and medical support processes, the effects of electrical burns and trauma could not be overcome. Finally, hospital authorities delivered the heartbreaking news to their relatives that both individuals could not be saved and had passed away.

This news created profound devastation, not just as a workplace accident, but by taking two people from the same family at once. The fact that Samim Okur was a retired firefighter shows that he had spent years working to save people's lives, and this time he faced a tragic end while trying to save his own child. Following the completion of the autopsy and prosecutor's procedures, the bodies of the deceased father and son were handed over to the family. Preparations were made for both of them at noon at the Kavak Gazenfer Bilge Camii in the Karamürsel district. Hundreds of people flocked to the mosque at noon to fulfill their final duties, and the congregation stood in rows to pray. At the emotional funeral ceremony, Samim Okur's own father and Olcay's grandfather could not hold back their tears. The grieving grandfather sincerely asked for forgiveness for his child and grandson, who were to be buried, making everyone sob bitterly.

Following the afternoon prayer, the funeral prayer was held for father Samim Okur and his son Olcay Okur, accompanied by a large congregation. At the end of the prayer, the bodies were carried on shoulders amidst prayers and tears, heading towards the burial site. The father and son being shoulder to shoulder, sent off on their final journey in the same row, pierced the hearts of those attending the ceremony.
