Zelenskyy: While US Representatives Are in Russia, Attacks on Moscow Will Be Halted

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that air strikes on Moscow were halted during the negotiations of US President Donald Trump's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin also gave a reciprocal order to the Russian army not to attack Kyiv for three days. Both sides reached a temporary ceasefire understanding in the shadow of the diplomatic process.

Zelenskyy insisted on a halt to attacks on cities involved in the negotiation process and stated he expected Russians to refrain from attacking Kyiv as well. He noted that diplomatic talks with the participation of the US delegation are planned in Kyiv tomorrow, emphasizing that Ukraine's diplomacy will be "100 percent strong and effective." This development is being assessed as a rare signal of mutual de-escalation in the conflict that has been ongoing for months.

Zelenskyy stated that Russia targeted Kyiv and Boryspil airports last night in a "deliberate" attack for the first time after a long interval, characterizing this as a threat to US diplomacy. Ukraine announced it would readjust its operations targeting Russian airspace, which has become dangerous due to unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles, accordingly next week. Zelenskyy expressed that Ukraine is interested in bringing peace closer, while Russia will be held accountable for its actions.
