Zelenskiy discussed the effects of Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure with Koretskiy, head of Naftogaz

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenskiy received a briefing from the head of Naftogaz, Serhiy Koretskiy, in order to increase the resilience of the country's energy infrastructure and evaluate the activities of strategic state companies. The new threats and challenges arising from Russia's recent attacks on energy facilities constituted the main agenda of this high-level meeting. In this context, he emphasized that Koretskiy resolutely protected and pursued Ukraine's national interests in the operations of these companies. In the meeting, which brought the two figures together, the devastating consequences of Russia's successive air attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure were discussed in detail. In particular, regions close to the front line where clashes are intense and settlements along the country's borders were cited among the areas most affected by these attacks. Zelenskiy stated that Russian troops directly targeted gas stations and other important energy facilities in these critical regions. Such systematic attacks aim to both severely paralyze the daily lives of civilians and disrupt the logistics lines in the country. In this regard, authorities are working on new strategies to strengthen energy distribution networks and increase the capacity of emergency response teams that can intervene during an attack.

As a result of the assessments, Zelenskiy and the Naftogaz executive clarified the necessary steps to further strengthen the country's energy security resilience. It is planned that these steps will be implemented in full compliance with the state's updated new political strategy and national security goals. The Ukrainian government aims to build a much more resilient infrastructure in both military and civilian fields against the extraordinary conditions brought by the war. It was reported that sectoral planning includes not only overcoming current crises but also ensuring the country's long-term energy independence. This comprehensive structural transformation in the energy sector is expected to directly increase the country's economic and military resilience.

This important briefing took place against the backdrop of a comprehensive government revision and the radical changes planned in state administration previously announced by President Zelenskiy.
