Occupying seats with bags on trains in the Netherlands has been banned

Dutch Railways (NS) is putting into effect a new rule that prohibits passengers from occupying empty seats with their hand luggage.

Accordingly, passengers are required to hold their bags on their laps or place them on the luggage rack, even if the carriage is not crowded.
