5.9 magnitude earthquake in New Zealand; tsunami warning issued

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake occurred northwest of New Zealand's Te Anau region.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) announced that the tremor was recorded at a depth of approximately 76 kilometers.
