The perpetrator of the recent attacks in Berlin, Abdul Ballout, was known as a religious leader and mentor in salafist circles.

The 21-year-old Ballout was trying to reach and influence many people over the internet. Additionally, it is stated that he tried to radicalize other prisoners during his previous time in prison.
