Operation Against Street Dealers in Afyonkarahisar: 2 Arrests

In an operation conducted against street dealers by the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Police Department teams, varying quantities of illegal substances and a shotgun were seized. This operation, carried out as a result of intelligence and surveillance work by security forces, was recorded as part of the ongoing efforts to prevent drug trafficking in the city. Within the scope of the operation, searches were conducted, and legal proceedings were initiated against numerous suspects. It was reported that the confiscated materials were handed over to the relevant units to be examined by police teams. During the detailed searches, illegal substances soaked into 28 tissues, 8 synthetic drug substances, and approximately 3 grams of illegal substances were found and seized. Additionally, a shotgun was confiscated during the searches conducted on the suspects and at their addresses. Security forces assess that the seized weapon was kept by the suspects, who engage in illegal drug trafficking, to ensure their own security. All these pieces of evidence will be examined by police engineers to be added to the case file of the prosecutor's office conducting the investigation. The legal processes of the suspects will continue in light of the collected evidence.

Within the scope of the operation, legal proceedings were initiated against five suspects named B.Y., M.Ö., H.K., M.D., and H.K. on charges of 'Using Illegal Substances.' It was learned that after their statements were taken, these five individuals were released or discharged under judicial control. Police officials stated that strong evidence was obtained indicating that these individuals used illegal substances. It was reported that the legal process regarding the suspects is being carried out by the relevant units and that the file has been forwarded to the prosecutor's office. Authorities noted that these operations targeting users also shed light on the efforts to identify dealers.

As the investigation deepened, the identities of individuals engaging in illegal substance trafficking were identified, and two suspects named V.G. and B.Y. were taken into custody. These two individuals were interrogated at the police station and their statements were taken on charges of 'Trafficking in Illegal or Stimulant Substances.' After their procedures at the police station were completed, the two suspects were brought before the magistrate's court at the courthouse they were referred to. Considering the nature of the crime and the state of evidence, the magistracy ruled to arrest both suspects. The arrested suspects were delivered to the penal institution to serve their sentences.
