Operation against 'new generation' criminal organizations in Ankara: Many detention warrants

In the capital Ankara, a comprehensive operation was conducted by Emniyet Müdürlüğü teams against criminal organizations defined as 'new generation'. Within the scope of the operation, simultaneous raids were carried out on many addresses to decipher the activities of the organization members and collect evidence. While the efforts aimed to dismantle the cell structure of the organization and dry up its financial resources, the nature and scale of the operation attracted attention.

The operation, planned in line with intelligence information obtained by security units, was implemented late at night without prior notice to create a shock effect. It was stated that operations continued with the support of special operations police to apprehend the suspects for whom detention warrants had been issued. It was learned that the suspects were wanted for their activities under the criminal organizations law, and necessary permissions were obtained from judicial authorities in this context.

The focal point of the operation consisted of groups characterized as 'new generation', which differ from classical organized crime structures and operate in more modern and cyber fields. It was announced that evidence regarding the system established by these groups to obtain unfair gains was examined, and digital materials were taken into examination. Relevant authorities emphasized that they follow a zero-tolerance policy against the risk such structures pose to societal security.

It was conveyed that the number of detainees was quite high, and after health checks at forensic medicine units, their statements at the police station would be taken. It was stated that the suspects were planned to be sent to court to stand trial according to the nature of the crimes they committed. It was shared that judicial processes regarding the operation were ongoing and search operations for some suspects were continuing.

Within the scope of the investigation conducted under the coordination of Ankara Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı, it is being considered that the number of detentions may increase and operations against addresses in other districts may continue. Citizens were called upon to inform authorities if they encounter such organized crime activities. Emniyet yetkilileri stated that, in line with the principle of the rule of law, efforts to punish those who commit crimes in the heaviest manner would continue without interruption.
