Bus Accident on Ankara-Niğde Highway: 23 Injured

A serious accident threatening traffic safety occurred on the busy Ankara-Niğde highway, the main connection route between the Ankara and Niğde provinces. On this route, frequently used for travel from eastern provinces to the capital, a passenger bus en route from Van to Ankara overturned in an uncontrolled manner. This rollover, which could be a sign of the driver losing steering control or a technical malfunction in the vehicle, caused the bus to lie horizontally and passengers to be trapped inside. With the arrival of health teams at the scene, the injured were transported to ambulances, starting with those in critical condition, and dispatched to the nearest health institutions. While the fact that the majority of the passengers were not in life-threatening danger indicates that the accident did not turn into a bigger disaster, it was stated that some of the injured were kept under observation.

Upon hearing of the accident, a large number of emergency response teams were dispatched to the region and operations were carried out in a coordinated manner. Fire brigade, ambulance, and traffic police teams from the nearest districts and towns arrived at the scene very quickly at the time of the incident. Fire crews worked meticulously to rescue passengers trapped in the wreckage resulting from the overturning of the bus, while health teams stood by outside to intervene. Traffic police created a wide security cordon to preserve evidence regarding the formation of the accident and to prevent other vehicles from approaching the accident site. Thanks to the intense and self-sacrificing work of the teams, the injured rescued from the wreckage were taken to ambulances as soon as possible and treated.

The formation of long vehicle queues caused drivers to suffer, but the road was reopened to traffic after cleaning and inspection work was completed. Cleaning the accident site and making the asphalt safe were critical steps taken for the return of transportation to normal.
