The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is bringing a significant innovation to the sector by regulating bee venom production, which until now lacked a legal framework. Following beekeeping products such as honey, propolis, royal jelly, and pollen, bee venom is also being included in the official legislation with the newly drafted regulation. With the "Regulation on the Collection of Bee Venom", comprehensive standards are being established, ranging from production processes to training, hygiene rules, and technical inspections. This step aims to further increase the competitive power of the sector, as Turkey is one of the world's leading beekeeping countries. With the regulation coming into force, a new economic opportunity is opening up for producers, while the goal is to offer much more reliable and higher quality products to consumers.

Thanks to its extensive vegetation and rich honey bee presence, Turkey holds a remarkable position in the global beekeeping sector. However, unlike other beekeeping products, bee venom has not been subject to any production principles or quality standards until today. With the new regulation prepared by the Ministry, it is planned to eliminate this gap and bring an institutional structure to the sector. Thanks to the new rules, the legal obligations that both producers and businesses must comply with are clearly laid out. Thus, while uncertainties experienced in bee venom production are eliminated, it is also aimed to prevent unregistered production.

The regulation closely concerns producers in Kırşehir, where beekeeping is one of the important sources of income, and offers a new revenue stream for them. Once the regulation comes into effect, beekeepers in Kırşehir will have to meet certain conditions to economically benefit from bee venom production. In this context, it becomes mandatory for producers to be officially registered and for production activities to be carried out in full compliance with technical criteria. Along with the registration of the sector, the reliability of the products produced by beekeepers in Kırşehir will increase significantly. The Ministry expects regional producers to gain a stronger position in national and international markets with the widespread adoption of quality production.

One of the most striking elements of the new regulation is the mandatory training and certification process for those who wish to engage in bee venom production. To collect bee venom, beekeepers will first be required to participate in Ministry-approved training programs and obtain a "Bee Venom Collection Certificate". It also stands out as a mandatory prerequisite for certified producers to sign official contracts with Ministry-authorized businesses. Producers without any contracts will not be allowed to collect bee venom, no matter how experienced they are. This strict supervision mechanism aims to ensure that production is carried out in a fully registered, traceable, and reliable manner.

The tightening of production and hygiene rules also constitutes one of the most critical sections of the new regulation. The regulation meticulously governs technical processes, from the equipment used in collecting bee venom to the storage of the products. Accordingly, it is stipulated that special apparatuses that absolutely do not harm the bees must be used, while extracting bee venom from the same hive within a period shorter than seven days is prohibited. In addition to producers complying with hygienic conditions, it is required that products be stored at appropriate temperatures and the cold chain be meticulously maintained. Furthermore, the use of equipment such as masks, protective goggles, and gloves by beekeepers within the scope of occupational health and safety has been made a legal obligation.
