6 suspects caught in prostitution operation conducted in three provinces centered in Edirne

A large-scale prostitution operation initiated by Edirne Security Directorate teams in the central border city was successfully concluded. According to the details of the operation, action was taken upon tip-offs and intelligence information that young female university students who came to the city for educational purposes were being encouraged into prostitution. This investigation, meticulously coordinated by the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, required a long process to dismantle the criminal organization. Considering the magnitude of the incident, the operation was not limited to just one province but spread to three different provinces. Following the successful completion of the operation, a total of six suspects were caught and detained.

To solve the problem and catch the suspects, security forces conducted uninterrupted work for about three months. In this context, both technical and physical surveillance methods were effectively used to track the suspects' communications and movements. Security units determined that the suspects specifically targeted female university students and lured them into the criminal organization with various promises. The evidence collected in line with the prosecutor's instructions clarified the addresses and timing of the operation. This long intelligence and surveillance process ultimately resulted in a simultaneous and surprise raid.

The simultaneous operations were not limited to Edirne but spread over a large geography covering the provinces of Tekirdağ and İstanbul. Police teams entered all identified addresses simultaneously, giving the suspects no opportunity to escape or destroy evidence. During the operation, six individuals who were definitively linked to the incident and against whom sufficient evidence was gathered were successfully detained. It was announced that the detained suspects were taken to police headquarters for their statements to be taken and files to be prepared regarding their criminal activities. This operation once again highlighted the decisive stance of security units against criminal networks that exploit young women.

The procedures and interrogations of the six detained suspects at the security units continue without slowing down. It is believed that new details emerging in their statements will shed light on whether there are other suspects or different criminal networks behind the incident. The prosecutor's office has focused on identifying other areas where this criminal organization operates and its victims by deepening the investigation. In line with the existing evidence and statements taken, it is planned to initiate judicial processes by the judicial authorities to which the suspects will be referred. This incident also brought up the fact that university students who come to different cities for education can remain socially and psychologically vulnerable.
