Moment of Terror in Eskişehir: Balaclava-Wearing Attacker Torches House, Disaster Averted Thanks to Wedding

In the late hours of the night, a tension-filled incident occurred in Eskişehir's Odunpazarı district where an attempt was made to set a house on fire. It was determined that an unidentified individual, hiding their face with a ski mask, arrived in front of the detached house numbered 3 at Orta Mahalle Tekin Sokak. The attacker poured the flammable substance they brought onto the entrance and surroundings of the house, immediately set it on fire, and then fled the scene, quickly escaping and covering their tracks. The intense flames caused by the flammable substance quickly engulfed the doors and windows of the house, creating a risk of spreading to the interior of the building.

Upon the residents noticing the fire and reporting it, police and fire crews were quickly dispatched to the scene. Teams affiliated with the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department conducted a professional intervention to prevent the fire from growing and spreading to neighboring buildings. D., and his family were not inside as they were attending a wedding ceremony at that hour. Had the family been at home at that time, considering the intensity of the fire and the doors being engulfed in flames, loss of life or serious injuries would have been inevitable. This coincidence prevented a potential disaster, ensuring the event was survived with only material damage.

Following the incident, police teams launched a large-scale investigation to identify and capture the fleeing attacker. Teams trailing the balaclava-wearing suspect began examining security camera records from the scene and collecting information from local residents. Security measures were increased, particularly to prevent similar attacks in the Odunpazarı district and to ensure peace, while efforts to capture the attacker were intensified.
