In the city of Meknes, Fas, the National Human Development Initiative (INDH) continues its support for cooperatives and entrepreneurs operating in the social and solidarity economy sector. The projects carried out in this context focus on key objectives such as developing production tools, improving working conditions, and expanding the marketing opportunities for local products. These supports make a significant contribution to strengthening economic and social development at the regional level. Cooperatives stand out as structures with the potential to both create employment and increase the income levels of the local population. Authorities believe that such economic models are indispensable for a sustainable development vision.

One of the prominent projects among those supported was the "Dar Lalla" women's cooperative, which operates in the field of traditional sewing and embroidery in the historic city center of Meknes. This cooperative obtained financial support of 20 thousand Moroccan Dirhems for the purchase of sewing machines and embroidery equipment, as well as for the organization of its workspace. While this financing directly increased the production capacity of the cooperative, it also significantly improved the quality of the products. Cooperative manager Leyla Er-Rahmani stated that this organization, which employs five women, aims to economically empower women and integrate them into the local economy. Preserving traditional handicrafts is also highlighted as one of the main objectives of this project.

Cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector also significantly benefit from the opportunities provided by the INDH. The "Badia Zerhoun" agricultural cooperative, which produces olive oil, carob, legumes, and honey, modernized its production processes with the financial support it received in 2019. Transitioning from traditional farming methods to more advanced technological equipment, the cooperative expanded its market share by increasing product diversity. Cooperative president Muhammed El-Yagmuri stated that the establishment of exhibition and fair areas for the marketing of local products partially overcame the sales challenges experienced in previous periods. It is emphasized that such steps play a critical role for cooperatives in reaching wider audiences.

In order to strengthen the marketing infrastructure, a permanent cooperatives market named "Feth Ez-Zehr" was established in Meknes. This physical sales point offers cooperatives producing within the scope of the social economy the opportunity to introduce their products directly to consumers. In addition to expanding the customer base of the cooperatives, the contribution of local civil communities to the economic circulation is also encouraged. Authorities believe that properly creating the value chain of local products will increase their competitiveness. Furthermore, such centers mediate the integration of rural and local products with urban economies.

However, experts in the field of development argue that for the permanent success of these projects, the post-financing process must be monitored more closely. Observers, noting that cooperatives cannot survive on cash support alone, emphasize that continuous consulting in areas such as vocational training, digital transformation, and professional marketing strategies is essential. Facilitating access to local and international markets is seen as imperative for these enterprises to transform into truly competitive economic actors. Experts warn that unless appropriate frameworks and mechanisms are provided, the long-term sustainability of such initiatives will be under threat.
