Operation against unlicensed weapons and 'change' vehicle in Gebze: Suspect in custody

In the Gebze district of Kocaeli, KOM teams conducted a comprehensive operation aimed at preventing illegal arms trade. As part of the operation, a detailed search was carried out at the residence of a suspect believed to be in possession of unlicensed weapons and harboring a vehicle with an altered chassis number. Authorities stated that they will continue to work decisively to prevent such criminal organizations and illegal activities. The operation in question was considered an important step by the security forces in the region to protect the public from the risks posed by dangerous weapons and illegal vehicles. The evidence found on the suspect is at the center of the extensive investigation conducted by the prosecutor's office.

During the meticulous searches conducted by the security forces at the suspect's house, a significant amount of weapons and ammunition were seized. One of the elements that particularly stood out during the searches was a high-firepower Glock brand .45 caliber pistol. In addition to this, another 9-millimeter caliber pistol of the same brand and numerous spare magazines belonging to these weapons were seized. Furthermore, a total of 52 .45 caliber cartridges, 53 9-millimeter cartridges, and 15 7.65-millimeter cartridges kept in the house to be used with the weapons were also seized by the security forces. Technical teams are continuing their investigations to determine whether the seized weapons and ammunition are involved in illegal arms trade.

Another important leg of the operation was a fraudulent vehicle known as a 'change', which was registered under the suspect's name. As a result of detailed technical examinations regarding the matter, it was determined that the vehicle's chassis number and official identity information had been completely changed. This determination made by criminal teams strengthens the suspicions that the vehicle is stolen or its identity was hidden to be used as an element in another crime. Security forces stated that criminal organizations generally prefer 'change' vehicles to avoid disputes and tracking. The vehicle in question was considered an instrument of crime and immediately taken into custody at the scene, while the process of collecting evidence was carried out with great meticulousness.

Following the successful conclusion of the operation, the suspect was taken into custody and referred to the police department. What the suspect said in their statement and whether they accepted the crimes have not been shared with the public in detail at this time. As the security investigation deepens, where the suspect obtained these unlicensed weapons and for what purpose they used them are among the main topics being investigated. Ballistic examinations have been initiated to clarify whether these weapons were used in the commission of another crime. Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the prosecutor's office, the individual is sought to be punished for the charge of violating the Law No. 6136 on Firearms, Knives, and Other Implements. Additionally, due to the illegal alterations made on the vehicle, a lawsuit is expected to be filed against them for the crime of forging an official document. These serious charges indicate a potential court process that could lead to the suspect receiving a prison sentence of many years if convicted. As a result of the trial to be held in the local court, the suspect's legal status will become clear, and the decision will ultimately be finalized.
